These rankings are as of the episodes premiering May 9th to May 15th

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Kowloon Generic Romance. Ep. 6

ahhhhh, this anime man. I have so much to say about this episode but I’ll keep it as short as possible.

First off, Kudou saying stay by me was heart melting. Yea I understand where Kujirai is coming from but I doubt that is what Kudou wants even if it hurts to see her at times.

Now then, Miyuki next. His plan is evil, and he seems intent on making sure it happens to get his revenge. His meeting also revealed some more about project terra and Kowloon itself. It’s interesting that there are people that can’t see Kowloon, but the reason for it stems from more than just having a history with the original given that Yaomei can see it.

As for Yaomei, I believed that seeing her as her original self was just something for the audience to see, but the fact that she actually experienced that makes last episode even cooler.

Um, man, they fit a lot into 20 minutes. I was really hoping Gwen would reveal what happened to Kujirai but it didn’t happen. That’s fine, as the ending left us with more blue balls than that anyway.

Awesome episode, 9 cup of noodles out of 10 10 revenge plots.

2. Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX. Ep.6

A much slower episode today, but used to build a big battle coming within the next or two episodes.

I believe this may be the first loss for our team as they will be facing others with access to the Kira Kira, or, since they are cyber newtypes. There could be a difference in laten ability, but I am sure they will be skilled pilots.

It does make me sad that Annqi and the others are going to betray Shuuji. The guy just wants to go to earth but it will be far more difficult than he would have liked.

Now, I wonder where the future will take the main trio. Nyann and Machu have some talking to do, Shuuji is ever calm, but the next few episodes are going to throw problems at them that will be difficult to overcome.

If the preview is anything to go off of, Machu will be the one to shoulder most.

There’s also overlapping conflict and the possible assassination attempt that will be explored, it’s possible Machu and the others get dragged into this as well, I only hope we won’t lose anyone.

3. Witch Watch, Ep. 5

My heart, MY HEART!!!!!!!!!

Man, what an absolutely heart pulling episode. Shout to Kanshi for being a killer wingman.

The romance blooming scene for Nico was just great. Moi cares for Nico so much, and him being there for her when she most needed it, and still being there is so sweet. It makes sense why Nico is love with him, he’s just a great guy though he is conflicted about developing his emotions given their relationship.

I love when anime like this aren’t afraid to take a more serious turn, this was a wonderful episode focused around the relationships of a couple we support and want to see. I think Nico will be more reassured now, and I hope Mio will soon allow himself to love her openly.

And yea, that ending still under the tree was everything, bravo.

4. Lazarus. Ep.6

Another great episode. Really cool going into Elaine’s past, but that ending was my favorite part with Hannah taking the step and Elaine looking for comfort with someone she actually considers something closer to family.

Cults are some of the wildest things out there. There is no exaggeration in this episode either, plenty of stories have come out about cults willing to die for what they follow and they even mimic the speech.

Lord Dragon being Skinners mind copied is quite interesting as well. If they are able to recover the data then it could be the best lead to finding Skinner and maybe the cure as well.

No real fights are crazy action, but still very enjoyable and the days are starting to get close so the tension rises.

I love cults, 8.5 sacrifices out of 10 dragon lords.

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

5. Apothecary Diaries. Ep. 41

This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, I was enthralled from start to finish.

It’s always been my opinion that MaoMao is the biggest strength and weakness of the anime. Jinshi losing composure, but also regaining and showing how capable he is, and the inclusion of Lahan and Lakan was fantastic.

There is a fantastic story here with great characters and great mystery, but the relying on MaoMao has its pitfalls.

If the anime could continue like this and use its characters more, then it would become one of my favorites.

As for now, I have an inkling on who Loulan actually was, it would be a fantastic twist and I hope it is true. This arc is fixing up to be a great for this series, so, huh, I’m impressed.

6. Wind Breaker S2. Ep. 7

Jesus, they just keep making Tsuabki cooler by the minute. The amount of core strength required to do the moves they were pulling is unreal and they did it with ease. I was hoping to see Tsubaki in action but I guess we’ll have to wait a little more.

Roppo Ichiza has some killer looks in their team. I bet Kanji is seriously strong and may have given Sakura and Sou a run for their money if not just outright beat them.

Also, holy character development?! I love that they are giving Nire some training, he may not reach the level of the top guys, but he can still defend himself well enough.

Man, Wind Breaker is much better than I ever thought it would be.

8.5 singers out of 10 poles.

7. Aharen-San. Ep. 6

Man, for what is supposed to be a comedy, this anime has some strong and very enjoyable characters.

Futaba is a great watch, her considering everyone her enemy is just too funny but she’s also a nice character that isn’t outright mean so it makes her likable. The entire episode could have been her at odds with the planet and it would have been great.

The second half was just as good to watch, the Aharen family has a great dynamic together but it was nice to watch them care for each other and even resolve a fight.

And, of course, Raido jumps to extreme conclusions within seconds of showing up. Never change Raido.

8. Lycoris Recoil. Ep. 5

Maybe I need to rewatch LycoReco because I don’t remember enjoying it this much.

This shorts have been way too much fun to watch. the ab ability to fit in as much as they do in shorts like this is great.

This one may be my favorite, Takina showing one of her dreams and the fear of being caught trying on the red outfit. To think she can lie so easily as well is just great.

Dang it, watch this, I can’t even hate on it. 9 red Takina’s out of 10 scared Fukis.

B: Good/Solid

Yandere Dark Elf. Ep.6

Didn’t expect a somewhat episode today, though they made sure to keep just enough goon for the fans.

I do believe Belle would be a good mother, now it’s just a question of when Hinata will be willing as he did say not is the right time instead of outright denying the desire.

Perhaps in the future, though 10 kids may be too much even for these two.

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

Makina-san's a Love Bot?! Ep. 6

I suspected the new girl to be a robot, but not to be a maniac as well. Alright, I’m interested in seeing where this going and why they want Makina’s body. It seems they were behind the explosion as well, but if they wanted the body then I’m not sure the explosion was a great idea.

Make it stand out

Man, this anime is wild. Haven’t been able to write on it recently but each one seems to try to have some insane moment. I’m not sure how much more Takamine has to throw herself at Shirota for him to take the hint, but I get it, I wouldn’t take the hint either.

Wild stuff aside, it is nice to see Takamine show emotion, despite Shirota being dense. It makes me wonder how she will react to the new challenger. I like Takamine, but short hair blonde girls are difficult to beat.

Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.

The Beginning After the End. Ep. 7

Ahhh, ok. This was the best episode yet, the little fight between Tess and Art had some animation going on, honestly was very surprised by it.

Again, saying the best is not much given the quality of the rest of the season.

We did have some nice progression however, the taming of the beast will and the arrival of a new and very adorable pet.

The split of Tess and Art was done well, you can tell the two really are about each other but there is just a little something missing that didn’t let the scene hit as hard as should have. I believe the sour taste left by the rest of the season hinders what is otherwise a very nice scene.

What could have been.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
