Anime Spring 2025 Weekly Ranking May 30th June 5th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering May 30th to June 5th

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Kowloon Generic Romance. Ep. 9

No! Don’t touch her! I wonder if killing her will lead to loss of their generic research or perhaps it will have an even bigger effect on Kowloon than I expect. Whatever the case may be, don’t touch her!

Now then, more and more about Kowloon is revealed every episode and I’m impressed by how they sprinkle information in. Yaomei losing her memory, or her grip as described by Gwen, after drinking a beverage from Kowloon was a big reveal. But it may not be just that which has that effect on others.

And that leads me to Kudou. I think he has far since lost himself, to grief and to Kowloon. It could be something precious or things one would be sad to disappear that are the true culprits here. For Yaomei it is just Kowloon, with Kudou it is Kujirai B.

Now, as a relationship expert - just trust me - it leaves me saddened for both sides. As much as I would love to see these two happy, their relationship is unhealthy. Kujirai is in love with Kudou, but Kudou is love with Kujirai B and is desperate to have her become like she once was. The sugar was just that, his hope that she would suggest the french toast of her own will and allow him to see the old her sprouting from within. But that won’t happen, I don’t think it ever will. Kudou must move on as it is unfair to current Reiko, and dangerous to himself mentally and physically. I know it is difficult to let go, but I hope we see something close to it. He could lose himself to it, which could also be done very well, or he will move on and can still be with Reiko as we know her.

Great show, where is Xiaohei?

Yaomei best girl.

9 wtf is going on out of 10 don’t touch hers with a sprinkle of it’s time to move on big man.

2. Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX. Ep.9

I thought the rose of sharon was an actual rose, forgive my close mindedness.

First question is of course who helped Machu escape. I have some ideas but it may go unconfirmed for some time.

Machu landing in a brothel was just unlucky, but Lalah was here so it made it destiny in that sense. The Kura Kura scene was fantastic, and since Lalah’s dreams come true we may see her again but the future of someone seems near certain to end in death.

With the rose of Sharon now in possession, I believe there will be a big battle soon. Expecting this, I wonder how Machu and Nyaan will participate, and if they will be the ones to battle each other.

And ay yo, where the heck is Shuji?

8.5 roses out of 10 sharons.

3. Lazarus. Ep.9

Man, Mappa is just showing off with those fight scenes. Axel is a freak, but I don’t think he’s a killing machine like we just saw here.

Never expected Leland to be a double agent, but I doubt he would ever betray the Lazarus family. At least, not unless he wants Hersch hunting him down herself.

I also believe Lazarus will be hunted down after all is said and done, which leads me to the conversation about the anime itself.

With four episodes left, many criticize the pacing and progression of the anime, alongside episodes veering away front the focus of Skinner. I say nay to all the critics. While the points have merit, it’s still be quite fun to watch this and enjoy the Lazarus group enough to watch because of it.

More judgment to come by the end of it all, for now, 8.5 out of 10.

4. Wind Breaker S2. Ep. 10

Yea, Tssubaki just continues to be a goat. I like how Tsuabaki connected with Suzuri and the resolution overall is nice. Of course, they can’t hire everyone, but it is a good start and I wish the best for Suzuri’s group.

Tsubaki’s heart to heart with Shizuka was fantastic and needed. The ability to talk like that with someone you care about is important and often lost which leads to many relationships failing.

Back to Suzuri’s group, I hope everything will be ok. Whoever that was at the end even had Tsubaki more serious than ever. I’d love to see more of them, their tattoos are awesome.

8.5/10

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

5. Witch Watch, Ep. 9

Yo, I didn’t sign up for a heavy on the feels anime when I started watching this. Kara’s little story had me in tears, but I’m glad her and her father have made up and that nothing has changed.

I’d like for little Moi to be a permanent addition to the team also.

As much as Jun and his new girlfriend are a perfect match for each other, I believe Moi and Nico are just as good for each other. Their chemistry is incredible and they care for each other very much. It will be only a matter of time in my opinion, but I’ll be cheering with tears of joy when it finally happens.

Very impressive with how they’ve made such a likable couple, so, 8.5/10.

6. The Apothecary Diaries. Ep. 44

When picking a fight, its best to understand the quality of the enemies people. Shishou should have known about Lakan and Jinshi, or he overlooked this and is going to pay dearly for it.

So, Loulan was who I expected. The history of her mother is interesting, but not as much as she is scary. Bitch slapping someone twice, no warning or regret is insanity. Personally, I wouldn’t let that slide.

I do look forward to the upcoming episodes. The rebellion will be challenged now, and with the heads of the force focused on saving MaoMao, I really don’t see them losing.

All this to say, I prefer this anime when MaoMao isn’t the focus. But that is only because of how they have written her, extend the attention to others, and I love her just as much.

8.5/10.

7. Aharen-San. Ep. 9

The homeroom teachers are fighting for the highlight of the series of this point. The shenanigans from Aharen and Raido never cease to amaze, especially since Raido had no reason to be hanging from the roof other than to be with Aharen, I just love the guy.

The focus on Oshiro was nice as well. It’s understandable to have reservations about leaving friends and home, but strong relationships can always survive and even grow from the distance. I’m sure she’ll be fine, but she’ll have to give everyone their revenge match before she can leave.

8/10

B: Good/Solid

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

Makina-san's a Love Bot?! Ep. 9

Woah, this is a masterclass of edging if I’ve ever seen it. I don’t think Eita would do it if his life depended on it however.

While the antics are fun, I may be in a bad mood after watching TBATE, so I’m feeling another drop in this anime as well.

If we get the new robot next episode then we’ll stay however, gooners are suckers for new additions after all.

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.

The Beginning After the End. Ep. 10

And so, that is probably it for me. I can’t find the motivation to watch it anymore.

I understand the it gets way better soon, but the current narrative and writing just isn’t good enough to keep me watching.

It does make me sad, the fans are so adamant about the source material, but it doesn’t have a draw to keep me watching.

I’ll return if cour 2 has the greatest comeback of all time.

But, for now, 4/10 overall.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.

Some words

More to come soon!
