Anime Spring 2025 Weekly Ranking June 20th to June 26th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering June 20th to June 26th.

With that, the end of the season is here. My least favorite time of the year as you learn to love some the anime you watch and hate to see them go, but we have some killer stuff coming up and I look forward to it. Overall, some very good anime this season and some surprisingly bad as well. But, it’s been a great time.

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Kowloon Generic Romance. Ep. 12

This anime has been downright incredible from start and more than likely to finish.

What an ending to Miyuki’s arc. The absolute despair he must have felt to know he will never have his revenge now. And my god ‘in his eyes I am his salvation.’ That is cruelty personified into words.

Side note, I need a Yaomei in my life.

Now for Reko-pon. What does she plan to do? How she will save Kudo? Can she save Kudo? It seems Kujirai died of overdoes most likely, but that doesn’t explain why Reko is as she is now, or why she has changed from previous summers. Because of her care for Kudo, I believe Reko has accepted that it may require for her to disappear as well. Kudo’s greatest regret is losing Kujirai, and it will be impossible to move forward with a symbol of her ever present.

Man, I hope they stick the landing next episode.

Watch this, it’s heat. 9/10

2. Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX. Ep.12 FINAL

Overall, this was a great watch though it is amplified by having some knowledge of past terations of Gundam. Still, as a newcomer, this was great.

Shuuji’s painful cycle has come to an end at last, with Nyaan and Machu being what allows him, or forces him to choose another option. I understand why he continued to do so as Lalah had to suffer many times over watching Char die in battle, but that fate has at last changed.

Now, the battles. Oh man, we were spoiled this episode. Bull vs Char, Nyaan and Machu vs Shuuji. All of it looked fantastic and had me on the edge of my suit, even when Shuuji decided to pull out hacks.

Very enjoyable overall, and this may not be the last time we see the main cast as well. It would be awesome to see them again, I’m sure that’s how some people felt.

8.5/10

3. Lazarus. Ep.11

Ahah, that was hot. A nice goodbye gift for Axel and well deserved after he risked it all.

One episode to go, and we have a definitive location for Skinner, though the area is still large and it may come down to the last second.

I’m glad everyone is alive for now, but that leaves the question of will anyone survive? With the amount of time left, the cure better be quick pump to the chest or at 90% of the planet is doomed before they can mass produce an antidote. It is why I believe that the cure is something abstract, or the Hapna crisis is misleading.

What I look forward to is Axel’s finale with the assassin however. They’re going to need to pull some weight to make this ending satisfying even though I have enjoyed watching the series overall.

I leave my full critique for the ending, for now, 8.5/10

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

4. Witch Watch, Ep. 12

I can’t even get mad at Keigo anymore. I believed he was doing it to chase his dream once more, but his reason for betraying everyone is even more acceptable.

Now that my tears have dried, I really liked the first cour. There is a great mix of comedy and wonderful serious moments that keep intrigued and glued to the screen. Moi and Nico are just so wonderful together and I’m very excited to see more of them with the second continuing next week.

With Keigo now in the house, we only need best girl to move in and we’ll be ready for war. But that leaves the question in who is after Nico and just how strong they are after they took out the witch in a surprising fashion.

Look forward to it and I hope we get some highlight moments like we did in this season.

8.5/10

5. Aharen-San. Ep. 12 FINAL

He’s on Mars?!

A wonderful finale to a great romcom. Raido and Aharen are so likable and I supported their relationship more than I do my own. It did break my heart to see Aharen believe Raido may meet someone else, but Raido asking her to marry him when they meet again was everything she needed to hear and more.

And we also got the marriage! And they have grandchildren! And everyone else is happy! And Raido is just that guy! And Aharen is a wonderful grandmother, understanding and supportive.

They’re just so good for each other.

Now to the final scene. Brilliant. There isn’t a scene that would have made for a more satisfying ending than that. I even went back to the first episode and she does speak! She’s just really quiet. Seeing their first meeting from her perspective was wonderful, and knowing how it goes from there leaves you with butterflies as Aharen was already falling for him.

What a fun anime! A highlight of the season without a doubt. 9/10

B: Good/Solid

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

Yandere Dark Elf. Ep.12. FINAL

I guess that was a sweet ending after some fun at the beach. At least Hinata isn’t hiding what he feels anymore and that will allow their relationship to progress.

Overall, this was fine. It falls a short of what a great ecchi is, but that’s not my problem with it. I thing MariaBelle isn’t a great yandere. Like the great yanderes of old, we needed some insane actions that we never got. Sure she is intense, but it never went to a point where we’ve seen old Yanderes go. Maybe times have changed.

6/10, it’s fine I guess.

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.

Makina-san’s a Love Bot. Ep.12. FINAL

Well, of the Ecchi bunch, this was my least favorite. Still, it is a masterclass of misunderstandings and edging, but it doesn’t do enough to be much of a watch. Seeing Eita get chased around by the battle bot would have been nice.

Overall, you’re better off watching something else. 4/10

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
