Anime Summer 2025 weekly ranking July 11th to July17th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering July 11th to July 17th

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Takopi’s Original Sin. Ep. 3

Seeing Takopi break down made my heart sink. The little guy is so innocent and ignorant that he doesn’t understand the gravity of killing until the end. Realizing what he has done and taken away from others, it shows that Takopi is a good person.

Unlike the other two.

I do feel for Shizuka, she doesn’t deserve the bullying or home life she has, but man is she a bad influence. Still, I understand why she is the way she is. The neglect at home and all other parts of her life have left in her in such a state and I don’t believe she can be saved anymore.

Marina’s mother deserves the hate however. It’s a common theme that terrible parents regret losing their child and only realize their mistakes after but it’s always infuriating.

With the ending, consequences are going to come fast now. I’m not sure how the group will deal with, or if they can.

The ending gives me dread however, as I only see two endings coming. First, Takopi goes back in time to reverse all he has done but can’t help Shizuka in return. Second, the timeline remains and the consequences are heavy. Unfortunately, I do believe Shizuka will die in all cases.

I think is anime, and manga, are an excellent commentary on the issues children face in their lives and the failure of adults to help them. It’s a heavy topic often ignored because of the difficulty, but I am glad the author has chosen to do so.

What a show, 9.5/10

2. Call of The Night. Ep. 2

The feet fiends having a field day with this one.

What a great episode. Everything around Kiku was just perfect. The sudden frightening scenes conveyed the fearsome nature a vampire can have perfectly. When she caught Yamori I really did think he was dead for a moment. He handled it well, but the mystery of Kiku still stands. I think she gets off on the chase, or something along those lines.

And yet, it was the ending that was the best part for me. Anko’s appearance may have been even scarier than Kiku. She’s on the hint as usual, and Yamori is caught again. Of course, he won’t stray from this life, so it is only time before he is a target for Anko.

Lidenfilms, the way you paint night scenes is simply incredible. 9/10

3. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Ep.2

I do empathize with idols. While it is a life that comes with many privileges, the sacrifices made and other parts of the lifestyle can make it difficult.

Uzuki is a fine representation of this. Conforming to the mass so she doesn’t alienate herself because of who she is. I believe her music videos were a way to keep true to herself and show who she really is. Is the old version of her bad? No, if it is who she wishes to be. But that is for her to decide.

As is her future with the group. Which, as of now, I have no clue if she will wish to stay. Nodoka cares for her at least, Uzuki should be willing to rely on her.

8.5/10, you will never have game like Sakuta.

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

4. Gachiakuta. Ep. 2

Enji is one cool character, his voice is also perfect for the type of character they wish to display.

Learning about givers through Enji was nice, his battle was great to watch and a very good sign for what is to come as the series progresses. There also more like Enji in the cleaners group, with Rudo asked to join.

Rudo seems to have a strong ability as well with his gloves seeming to giver whatever he touches abilities.

Returning to the sphere will be difficult, but I’m sure Rudo will do so, just not this season. The first two episodes have been great, so I’ll keep following this anime and hope it continues.

8/10

5. Arknights: Rise from Ember. Ep.2

Little Amiya is adorable.

Without knowing much of the games lore, it can be difficult to follow the story at time, but with enough tidbits, I can say that this was great. W’s insanity never overpowered to free her people, despite being powerless to do against a power like Talulah. Still, deciding your own worth is an incredible way to live and die, W was great.

I always like seeing our main characters from the eyes of another. In this, we the doctor and many others from the eyes of W and her friends. They’re strong and the doctor even comes off as disturbing which was great to see. The doctor is kind at heart, or it depends whose playing him, but he does orchestrate the war like chess.

8/10.

6. Dan Da Dan. Ep. 3

+1 to Okarun to an immediate -1 moments later was great. I’m proud of Okarun, the guy never backs down despite being very afraid and his opponent was very strong as well.

Now how in the world did the old folks survive, let them die man.

With the worm gone, will this really make the volcano go crazy? Or it is just coincidence> Whatever the case, Momo and co will find a way to protect people, but I worry for Jiji as Evil eye may be difficult to control.

8/10

7. My Dress-Up Darling. Ep. 2

There is a very important scene in this episode, just a minute in, that I must talk about.

Let me preface this by saying I will not call the other anime bad, I don’t like to name names either. But we’re talking about Fragrant flowers here. As some of my friends have asked, the reason I don’t watch the anime is because of the wrist grabbing scene that we share in Darling today. But here, it makes sense. Gojo could firmly believe that Marin was being hit on. In Fragrant, it just didn’t make sense to me. The guy was saying hi. And since then, I never read more of it as I believe it was a major overreaction and didn’t want to read more. But in this episode, it makes sense, it’s well written, and is great way to show how Gojo cares for Marin. So yea, that’s my peace.

As always, we have the sick episode. Before that, my god Marin’s room is something else. Gojo caring for Marin was sweet, even thinking of a way to get out of class as well. It’s nothing new, but the characters and the animation do carry a charm that not many other anime have and it makes for a great watch.

Equipping boobs is the future, 8/10

8. Sakamoto Days. Ep 1-2

Lu and Shinn getting some much needed power ups was nice, though I do have an issue with the killer just leaving their sleeping bodies there. Come on man, he could have just nailed them there but whatever.

Now, here me out. I’m in love with Osaragi. Or, the character type? Whatever the case may be, Osaragi has that look that I love, even if she may be frightening.

On that note, the members of the order are on another level. Osaragi never seemed to struggle in that fight, and retrieving her weapon made a quick end to it. I’m sure the others are just as, if not more skilled.

As for the ending, I’m certain that Sakamoto has defenses in place to protect his loved one, but on man is anyone who threatens in trouble.

Welcome back, 8/10

9. Witch Watch, Ep. 15

I have to let the world know, I fucks with their little dance in the opening.

It’s nice to see the group enjoy some leisure after a big fight, though it didn’t last long until they were attacked.

I guess the group needs to be more careful now that more people will be coming for Nico. Of course, with people like Miharu and Wolf, I’m sure they’ll overcome whatever comes their way. The close call should be eye opening however, or, maybe that’s what Miharu wants. Man, that was a crazy scene.

8/10

B: Good/Solid

10. The Water Magician. Ep. 3

Having had curry in Japan, I can understand the wonder behind finding it another world; it truly is that delicious.

We’re hitting the usual isekai checklist today, but this anime does it well. The world feels alive and there is good writing going on around Abel as there is much we don’t’ know about him and the rest of this world. It leaves the audience wanting to learn more, so good job.

Also, pretty elf girl. 10/10

11. Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now wander the Dungeon. Ep. 3

Ay man, there’s defintely a vending machine that… you know, gives him something. All I’m saying is, Lamis is looking at him a little funny.

For how ridiculous the idea for this anime is, It’s a lot of fun to watch. I guess it is because Boxxo is so likable and gets creative with his abilities. And, of course, cutre girls.

Boxxo went crazy this episode as well - then again, a lot of people had scary moments. Who gave Boxxo the ability to choke someone out. And then the cola bomb.

I say let Lammis get a hit in at least, though with her strength she’d probably knock his heart out of his mouth.

The ending scene of this episode are what keeps me watching. you don’t expect such a thing from Isekai.

Wait, he could become human again? Oh yea, it’s happening.

7/10

12. A Couple of Cuckoos. Ep. 2

A fourth enters the battle royal, and for this that read the manga, I personally believe Ai is the best choice. Hiro is messy, Erika doesn’t like Nagi, and Sachi is his little sister. Plus, Ai is rich.

Nagi tried his best but could have used some thinking before acting, at least Erika was there to save the day with a much more mature than expected action.

Again, Ai is best girl by pure circumstance. Hiro, as much as I wish to like her, only pisses me off in the future. But I don’t think the author themselves know who the final girl is, so eh.

7/10

13. The Rising of the Shield Hero. Ep. 2

Embrace the haram, Naofumi, embrace it. Or don’t, Raph is so adorable that I’d be content just petting her.

Have we been told white white tigers are discriminated against? I’m sure it has to do with the previous shield hero, I’m cetain they were more likable than Naofumi.

Jaralis is suspicious, but I doubt he wants to kill Naofumi, just trick him into getting more power for himself.

The ending was funny in my opinion, it was Naofumi who poisoned the food, right? Maybe they’ll say next episode.

ahhhh, 6.9/10 Naofumi bro, help me like you

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

14. Watari-Kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse. Ep.2

I understand and respect Watari caring for Suzu as he does, but their relationship is unhealthy as it is. We can see that Watari is afraid of losing his sister as he is based his entire life around her, but this makes it so he can’t enjoy other aspects of life. Both are guilty of course, but since they have lost their parents I can understand why they are so close.

If this anime continues to address why their relationship is unhealthy then it will be a good watch, but I can see why some people may be driven off by it. Still, this is a topic that deserves to be talked about, and I hope they address it well.

Now, Satsuki is my type of crazy, and I think she’ll only get crazier. I’m all for it.

6.5/10

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.

Last. Rent a Girlfriend. Ep. 39

Bro, Kazuya, you hang out with this girl all the time, why are you still freaking out every time she breathes the same air as you?! He does it twice in the span of three minutes!

Ah lets see, the party. I guess Mizuhara hoped to use Kazuya to keep others away from her, but we all know Kazuya is too much of a… he’s not going to do anything but feel bad about himself.

Yea, just let her date Umi. Mami, please rescue us.

3/10
