Anime Summer 2025 weekly ranking August 22th to August 28th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering August 22th to August 28th

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Call of The Night. Ep. 9

Seeing this early version of Nazuna is great. She’s ignorant about so much, even her own powers which is something most vampires probably experience. It would be nice to see her learn more about life in general but I believe there will a limit to what we see of this flashback.

Kyoko’s issues are far too real and saddening. Kudos to the entire, animation, voice acting, music, for making that a perfect scene. Nazuna is strange, but she means well and I think she is a great friend.

That ending was brutal, but Kyo’s line was 10/10. With this done, it is understandable why Kyo hates vampires like she does. My question is how long was her father turned for to crave blood as bad he did, or if it was initial cravings. Although, I think she is blinded by hatred given how good of a relationship she had with Nazuna to being with, still, I don’t blame her as that life she wanted was stolen away.

9/10, Nazuna in the fit was peak

2. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Ep. 8

Sakuta having his own case of dreaming is interesting, but not as much as Touko being petty. In this case I say it is worth canceling with your beautiful girlfriend if it means saving her. Especially with what Sakuta has already been through, what a terrible reminder man. Still, Touko remains a mystery for the moment.

The second case of dreaming was wild, not sure if Mai would forgive this act. I wonder how Himeji will tie into this arc and why? This anime’s strength has always been the mystery and interesting characters, so I have no fear of what is to come. The only thing I fear is Sakuta’s wellbeing if he does cancel on Mai. We may not got a resolution with Touko in this season however since we are moving onto Himeji, let’s all just pray for Sakuta!

8.7/10, Sakuta is the only one in danger here.

3. Gachiakuta. Ep. 7

Hell of plan, but what matters is that it worked.

Like I said before, if they continue to be creative with Rudo’s power then anime will be a favorite of mine given its different style that we don’t see often, and enough of. I wonder if the cost will remain consistent, or if it depends on how much Rudo uses it.

I thought Rudo was gone but boy I am glad the other cleaners showed up, we get to see some new characters as well. Although, we may have seen some already.

Did Gris die? The symbolism is a little mixed. I really hope he didn’t, but his death could be another trigger for Rudo to become stronger and realize what he is up against, and what he may have to sacrifice for his goal.

9/10, Jabber is no bitch. Also, the GOON SQUAD?

4. Dan Da Dan. Ep. 21

How good was that fight? Absolutely fantatic in my opinion. The music to the animation was just so well done.

Okarun was in his bag this episode, that’s my boy man. I like the resolution with Evil Eye as well, though I hope Jiji can control it in time.

My girl Grandma Ayase deserves all the rest in the world. She’s a great character with flaws like pride which make her even more likable in my opinion. I think she was even frustrated at not being able to help Jiji so I’m glad she doesn’t have to worry about the house as well.

9/10, that fight was excellent.

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

5. Kaiju No. 8. Ep. 18

Kaiju No. 9 continues to become even more interesting. To create another powerful kaiju is a surprise, if he can create more then there’s even more reason to kill him.

I like the ideas of turf battles between the teams, such powerful people are bound to have ego. Hoshino has an advantage for being so cool headed, though I think Narumi does win in the one on one, until Hoshino equips the kaiju weapon that is.

I was wondering how Reno would be brought back into the story. Having him equip No. 6 could put him on par with the strongest of the force.

I like the serious tone the anime is taking so far, even with the comedy sprinkled in. It makes the danger of No. 9 even greater as we see the strongest of the defense force at a loss. It’s excellent.

9/10, Reno is no bitch

6. Sakamoto Days. Ep 8

Taramoro’s design is very nice, but she is the most dangerous person on the island for Sakamoto.

I’d go to an island for tag, especially if there are pretty girls like the flight attendant.

I get Shin’s deilemna. The difference in skill between himself and the top brass is demoralizing but I believe he’ll be strong himself one day.

Glad Sakamoto is taking time to heal emotional wounds. It’s like watching a son grow and say they don’t want help from a dad, but Sakamoto doesn’t want to let just yet.

Akira’s moment was great, even Sakamoto was impressed. Not only that, he had to stop her! He stopped holding back to stop her, she’s strong. Not only that, but her OST is very good. Akira best girl?

8.6/10, got some catching up to do

7. The Rising of the Shield Hero. Ep. 8

Using Raph to keep calm was funny, but the little cutie looks fluffy so I get it.

That Orichi was rough, though it may be the fault of the previous fights using a lot of budget. The rest of the animation wasn’t bad either, some shortcuts isn’t a terrible thing if done properly in my opinion. This episode was a great example as we did get some very nice animation throughout.

The Orochi being a two stage fight was cool, kind of goes with the game like designs that are in this anime and I wish were more prevalent.

Sadina is not talked about enough in my opinion. But that isn’t the point here, I really like the focus on the side characters. A lot of Naofumi’s abilities empoer those near him so I’m glad we see such a focus on everyone.

8/10, Naofumi showed off his leadership skills in this one

8. My Dress-Up Darling. Ep. 19

Impulsiveness has me in a dire situation as of late, but it was all well worth it.

Wakana’s meeting was funny, the misunderstanding is a classic. Hold up… is that Tokiko from Summertime Render?! I love that anime so her voice just sounded familiar. If you don’t know what anime that is get to it!

I’ve seen real life cross players and I’m always impressed by the ability to become someone else, even a different sex. There were many times i couldn’t tell though I do have bad eyes. Still, it’s always awesome to see and I think Dress up darling does a great job at conveying how cool cosplaying is.

A big thanks to Aoi for giving us the inside on cosplaying. It’s where this anime shines with scenes like that which are fun. This entire season has felt fun, though I now wonder where season 2 ends.

8./10, I talk to a little ten I have so I get it

9. Witch Watch, Ep. 21

Kiryu being popular must drive Kanshi crazy. I get wanting to drop the act however, it can be draining to put on a constant persona.

Kiryu's school president being the masked student was a surprise. I like that they gave him a similar situation to Kiryu with having to put up on an act, though his is a lot more destructive. Still, I never expected the two to become friends.

Enough of that however, we got a gender bender episode! Ah, um, yea, girl Keiko actually a good design. Of course, the gooners of the world will flock to pretty girls, that’s all too realistic.

Now for what really matters, the girl rankings:

  1. Hitomi

  2. Keiko

  3. Miharun

  4. Kanna

  5. Wolf, though he’s number one for virality

8/10, gooners hold too much power

B: Good/Solid

10. The Water Magician. Ep. 8

If this anime had the budget for great animation it would be up there for a top contender of the season. It’s enjoyable, but the fights are limited. Still, it’s enjoyable and we got some more of Ryo showing off as well.

I would like to see a power struggle for Ryo. Of course, Ryo has no interests in such things, but many will be out for his power.

Before then, let him and Sera date if that is the route we are going. We still know little about Sera, I hope the final arc will include more of her.

7.6/10,a mock bout is as good as touching hands in my book

11. A Couple of Cuckoos. Ep. 8

I liked Hiro before reading forward in the manga. My problem with her is that I don’t buy her relationship with Nagi. As Erika and Sachi see Nagi as close irreplaceable family member, Hiro only sees him as an object she wishes to keep infatuated with herself. The moment she senses he could sway to someone else, she all of sudden wants him.

I like Nagi’s go getter attitude. Although his infatuation with Hiro is misguided (this is a fact) he’s the type of guy I admire in that he knows what he wants and goes after it. Parents are frightening, but we seem fight without fear and get results. I messes with him.

I liked the fake weeding, especially Ai being Petty. She only grows on me and I cannot see why Nagi doesn’t just run away with her.

6/10, Ai has to be the winner man

12. Watari-Kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse. Ep. 7

Makina comes across as someone who doesn’t want Watari is nothing more than a friend. Leaving with another girl would get me killed in this part of the world, would be a crazy twist if we got to see some blood in this anime.

Anime like this have to be a phycological trap. The unpopular, unassuming and down in life, being popular with some of the most beautiful woman on the around, it has to be like a dream come true for some guys and that is a powerful draw. Why I watch it? I like messy stuff, and I think this anime is only going to get messier from here on out. Boy do I look forward to that.

While I hope Makina’s situation gets better, I was right on the manipulative side.

I fear for what Ishihara will do to Watari if she gets him alone. Satsuki might get there first though.

6.7/10, Makina best girl? She’s got a bit of Mami syndrome going on.

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.

Last. Rent a Girlfriend. Ep. 45

We each episode we get closer to that scene, and then I can really let loose on this anime.

for now, let me say that Ruka is a million times better than Chizuru. I get her issues, and I won’t deny them, but they’re much better than Chizuru who I believe gets worse after this arc. But, I want someone like Mami to ruin me, don’t judge.

Oh yea, I remember Kazuya finding out. Mizuhara caring is one of the reasons I hate her. If you really are keeping a professional relationship, it should mean nothing to her. But it isn’t just that anymore, and she’s too indecisive and childish to understand this. Also, this shows how manipulative she is as well which isn’t talked about enough.

2/10, lot of fan service this episode, which is surprising as I imagined this show would have a lot more.

Some words

More to come soon!
