Anime Summer 2025 weekly ranking August 29th September 4th
These rankings are as of the episodes premiering August 29th
S: Must Watch
Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.
1. Call of The Night. Ep. 9
Bold words indeed from Yamori.
I like that Anko just straight up says it’s a grudge but even more that Nazuna apologizes. This guarantees that Nazuna and Anko will fight, I just doubt that Nazuna will be able to kill in this situation.
Continuing on with Anko, she is a such an interesting personality. Much of it must come from her grudge and sadness from losing her family. Shooting a vampire straight up like that is wild however, that takes some crazy courage, or straight insanity in this case.
Now, does Anko have a plan, of she is just suicidal but unwilling to pull the trigger herself? We’ll know more next episode but man she has become one of my favorite characters.
9/10, Akira deserves some love, 10/10 ending scene
2. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Ep. 9
Sakuta is going to die if he keeps making other plans.
You know, given Sakuta’s rate of success, I’d take all the advice about picking up girls form him., his track record is too good.
We’re treading dangerous waters in this episode, I need more Sakuta and Mai. But, for now, we must help Himeji and her case. While she is popular, she stands no chance against someone like Sakuta, straight manipulation masterclass form him, though brining Futaba into it was unfair.
The question now is how will Himeji and Toko connect with one another. It could be a case where one we don’t solve both at the same time, but I would be fascinated if both are.
Before than, does Himeji actually like Sakuta, doubtful. But to have someone looking into her case may be why she wants to stay near him at the moment. All in all, I think the best case scenario and that she ends up with Kasai or moves on.
8.9/10, Futaba should be with me, not him!
3. Gachiakuta. Ep. 8
Very glad that Gris is alive, he’s too good of a character man.
I recently saw someone mention that the characters of this anime have a lot of drip, with the arrival of Corvus I can no longer deny it. I love the style of this anime.
I agree that sweets can be a greater addiction than hard drugs. And poor Rudo has been dropped knee deep into a treasure trove he never had before, poor kid is never going to be able to recover.
Once again, I like Rudo’s power even more. Him empowering trash which he cares for so much is just a great detail I didn’t even notice. Of course, his power isn’t infinite but I really want to see just how strong he can get.
9/10, Rudo’s fit goes crazy but they needed to give us one full body shot for the flex!
6. Dan Da Dan. Ep. 22
Kinta is the true representation of boys in high school. The dream of being popular is all too common, I don’t blame him for trying to be like the suddenly popular Okarun.
There were some killer pieces of action in this episode. Momo swinging around might be my favorite. Although, the growth of a Kaiju was fun to watch so I’ll give it a close second.
This episode felt quick but it was nice introduction to Kinta who I see a lot of people rave about. So, for now, I hope he too will gain the popularity he yearns for.
8/10, love me some Kaiju’s
A: Very Good
Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.
5. Arknights: Rise from Ember. Ep. 25
Hate to say it, but Talulah’s turn is understandable. The mistreatement and even torture of infected was that bad.
As cool as Talulah is, Amiya took over in the second half of this episode. Facing power like Talulah is already cool enough, but the way she spoke was excellent, great job from the voice actress.
Talulah and Chen were fantastic this episode as well. Talulah’s speech during her fight, and Chen fighting with her sword unleashed had me for a moment until Amiya decided to aura farm on them.
8.7/10, last episode next
6. Kaiju No. 8. Ep. 19
The number six suit is insane, but I like the split focus on Iharu. He was already likable, but this episode will be what puts him above many others just because of how relatable he is. the once talented kid being met by others far stronger than him is a common experience, and I’m glad Iharu represents that one doesn’t need to give in when faced with what seems impossible to catch up with.
Back to the number six suit, I like that Reno doesn’t have complete control of it right away. Furthermore, the detriments of such power are overtaking him and could even lead to him destroying himself.
With that said, Iharu does steal the episode. What an incredibly likable guy, admitting to his own faults but unwilling to give up. I really do hope his case revolves around having more latent power than most, he deserves it.
8.5/10, Reno and Iharu are great.
7. Sakamoto Days. Ep 9
Oh, I 100% thought she was Rion’s daughter, family genes are insane.
Toramaru represents a very much disliked part of any fandom, I’m sure the Mangaka loved writing her. Her skills are no joke but her devotion to Sakamoto is even more admirable. Glad she got back up, she is a recommended candidate after all, now let’s see Kaji!
Onto Kaji, he is the far more relatable character , I’m sure he’ll think about that interaction for the rest of his life. I too overthink general interaction, and boy does it sting when it goes wrong. Poor guy, he’s already one of my favorites.
8.5/10, that twist entry was excellent
8. The Rising of the Shield Hero. Ep. 9
Kind of disappointed in Naofumi for not questioning Raphtelia’s clear hesitance with the plan.
Muramasa is a dog at heart, I respect it. Naofumi could learn a thing or two from him, having girls all over him and stuff.
Zodia is clearly related to Sadeena, though I wonder how. I say Naofumi should take the offer and marry her at this point, it’d be the least not marrying a slave option at this point.
I like that Raphtelia got some shine this episode, it’s surprising how little we have gotten of her despite this arc being focused on her lineage.
8.2/10, never noticed how much this anime strays from romance
9. My Dress-Up Darling. Ep. 21
Juju is back! Seems even she is too weak to the power of sisterly love.
I won’t say much about Akira other than she has to work on her phrasing a little more. Fear not, anime only fandom, she’s pretty cool.
I liked the whole coffin montage we got, I don’t delve enough into games to find some like it. But that’s not what we’re here for.
I’m almost 100% sure Gojo is too innocent to even consider what Marin is thinking about. Poor girl is about to have a heart attack, and it’s all Gojo’s fault! Or, in this case, her own active imagination. As much as she likes Gojo, no illicit hand holding before marriage!
Big ups to the crew working on this season, I love the little changes in animation, or the additions such as Marin going through the galaxy and other things like this that just add some fun to the watch.
8.2/10, good job Gojo
10. Witch Watch, Ep. 22
Doughnuts are a fix to many problems, of that I can confirm. I say they give the lovebirds some doughnuts to fix her issue, but I guess that is for another time.
While I wish we got some more arc focused episodes in the cour, the creativity of spells are so entertaining that I still enjoy watching. Furthermore, characters like Nico are great to watch, I like her optimism when translating bread language. Too bad it wasn’t meant to be.
8/10, we’re nearing the end of the season and I’m a little heart broken about it
B: Good/Solid
11. The Water Magician. Ep. 9
While I enjoy this anime, I can’t neglect the feeling that it is missing something. That’s right, ladies and gentleman, we need it to have more Isekai slop. Where’s the harem? Where’s the princess? We don’t have fan service!
Yet, it’s still a good watch. I like that Ryo is kind and isn’t tied down to any place at the moment, though I would like to see him be more influential as time progresses.
What this anime does excel in is Ryo’s excitement for this world. Not enough isekai delve into the fact that being sent to another world is a crazy experience that should bring wonder. I for one would not adjust in weeks as some do, couple of years minimum.
7.7/10, and yes, I’m doing all the isekai slop in my opportunity
C: It’s ok/Fine
These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.
12. A Couple of Cuckoos. Ep. 9
The enemy is Sachi-chan is a great name for the episode. As much as I hate Hiro, Sachi is a close second in the you irk me category. I think she is nice, even if she is mean to the one person she doesn’t want to lose.
My problem with her is on the author because I don’t even see her as a competitor in the love polygon. There are times when Nagi questions their relationship, but he always reverts back to seeing her as his sister.
I’m on a tanget now; now that i’m thinking about it I don’t see this guy marrying any of these girls. Erika doesn’t want him. Sachi will never want him as more than a brother, even with the kiss this episode. Hiro is Hiro. And for some reason Nagi doesn’t see that the best option, Ai, is nothing more than a childhood friend.
LIKE HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT SHE IS THE LEAST PROBLEMATIC AND EASIEST TO MARRY OF THE GROUP. HIRO IS MANIPULATIVE, EIRKA DOESN’T LIKE YOU, SACHI IS JUST POSSESIVE, AI IS LITERRALY THE PERFECT CHOICE!
7/10, the wedding photos were cute
13. Watari-Kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse. Ep. 8
I’ve seen Echii with a similar premise, but that’s niether here nor there.
Satsuki and Watari’s relationship is too close for Ishihara to be comfortable, so I understand why she worries. It’s that worry and lack of confidence that is taking her to extremes, it’s her own way of seeking affirmation that Watari won’t leave her for Satsuki.
As messy as this anime is, Ishihara’s situation is common. Of course, I understand why, especially when so young. I think she is sweet and deserving of someone nice, and that could honestly be Watari. He’s a good guy at heart, but her reaction to his denial is also warranted. It’s heartbreaking to be rejected like that after being so vulnerable.
Again, this anime is messy, but I’m surprised by how well written Ishara is. I look forward to the resolution with her, and I hope it is one where she leaves confident despite the probable separation from Watari.
7/10, I like Ishihara
D: Do Not Recommend
Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.
F: Bad
Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.
Last. Rent a Girlfriend. Ep. 46
The real ending of the series is Ruka X Chizuru.
Ehhh, let’s see. I like Ruka’s red dress, it’s nice.
For as much as people hate Ruka, I do believe she would make for a much better girlfriend than Chizuru. She’s a lot sweeter and decisive, and, while both are caring, I just believe someone like Ruka is a better fit for someone with as low self esteem as Kazuya.
We are 46 episodes in, over a year of these together, and Kazuya still can’t control his nerves around a girl who still charged him for this by the way.
1/10, put them in a coffin Mami
Some words
More to come soon!
