Anime Summer 2025 weekly ranking September 5th to September 11th

These rankings are as of the episodes premiering September 5th to September 11th

S: Must Watch

Episodes I believe you must watch or are missing out on.

1. Call of The Night. Ep. 10

The plan to starve vampires would have an effect, just not enough since the fear would dwindle as she said.

Anko is such a good character, her connection with Nazuna is fantastic. Apart from her connection, I like her dedication to her mission. Even willing to sacrifice herself, though much of it comes from her poor mental health. With her plan failing, seeing her attempt to take her own life wasn’t surprising, thank goodness that Yamori made it in time.

As for Nazuna, she showed off some terrifying strength this episode, but also weaknesses that make her human. The inability to kill an old friend, even to save another is a very human trait and I hope we explore more of this side for Nazuna.

9.5/10, get my boy to a hospital

2. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Ep. 10

calling Himeji repulsive is crazy work.

Himeji having clairvoyance adds another layer and brings back the good old quantum entanglement from season one. What’s more surprising is that it’s a two way street. Of course, Sakuta is a good guy with no nefarious intentions.

I loved the car scene, it showed just how good Sakuta and Mai are together. The two understand and love each other, which is why I’m a bit sad we didn’t get more of them together this season. The scene with Mai and Himeji was just as good, Mai really is best girl. Sorry, Himeji, you’re out of your league here.

Very happy that Mai and Sakuta could spend the night together, though they’re relationship needs to progress some for the people! With Himeji cured, we’ll be moving onto Nene but that is not the real issue here.

Futaba! It should have been me!

9/10, may a love like that which Mai and Sakuta share find everyone

3. Gachiakuta. Ep. 9

The introduction of a generational vital instrument could bring great relationships into the series, I wonder if it has any connection to series as well.

Gob’s death was unexpected, but the guy lived a life the way he wanted to even at the cost of his life. Unfortunately, it does mean leaving Remlin behind with heartbreak and tremendous responsibility. Although, I think they’ll be fine.

With that said, Rudo’s hatred for the top side continues to grow. I think he’ll be returning for more than just revenge against the masked man, but that could be a problem in itself. If he becomes consumed by hatred, I’m sure he, and his gloves, will suffer for it. If the writing does go down this route, I hope they’ll address it well.

Awesome ending scene, celebrating life as they did was just great.

9/10 for that music during the fireworks scene alone

4. Dan Da Dan. Ep. 23

For anyone who hasn’t watched Godzilla minus one, I implore you to watch it. It’s fantastic.

Aira was hard carrying this episode, hopefully this anime continues the everyone is useful route we have so far. As much as I love many other shonen, falling to the few powerful characters can be boring.

With that said, this was a great little love letter to Godzilla (though this entire anime is a love letter to different genres of media). A seemingly unstoppable force only brought down though the efforts of many, oh yea, give it to me. We do have the good twist of the kaiju becoming invisible.

I don’t think I compliment the animation in this anime enough. I always enjoy when the camera is made to act like the character moving as in this episode it’s as if we were watching from Momo’s eyes, but watching Aira’s movements are incredible as well.

9/10, you’re best girl in my heart Aira

A: Very Good

Good episodes, anime I would recommend to someone looking for something to watch.

5. Arknights: Rise from Ember. Ep. 25

I have to get into the gacha industry, the animation was stellar.

I like Chen and Talulah. The responsibility they both carried to this moment led them down different paths fated to clash, witnessing that was an honor in itself. We know Rhodes Island will not use Talulah for nefarious reasons, she must be alive to keep other wars from sparking for now at least.

THEY ADDED FROSTNOVE! YES! OH THAT IS SOO GOOD. WHAT A GREAT TOUCH.

What this anime does best is emphasize the significance of relationships. There are so many intricate relationships with such as Talulah and Chen, their family and friends, but this extends to many of the operators as well. I think it is fantastic how we see them react to and acknowledge loss, and growth with one another.

8/10, I do hope we see more of Arknights

6. Kaiju No. 8. Ep. 20

What a great episode. I’m glad Kafka’s sacrifice was acknowledged, he veyr well could have been killed.

With that said, I have no doubt that Kafka will transform if it means he can help. I hope Kafka can grow, it may even have an effect on his strength in kaiju form.

The ending scene with the warriors in the shadows was cool and I really hope they use it for more. A Kafka power up will be cook, but I enjoy how this anime is also making his teammates stronger so they can fight at his side with the time comes.

9/10, what is this ability the captain keeps talking about.

7. Sakamoto Days. Ep 9

There’s only one episode left?!

I think peoople have been too hard on this anime. For one, I really dislike when people attempt to compare the panel to scene in any anime, expecting the same quality a single panel to its counterpart in the anime. It’s unfair and unrealistic. So far, I think the anime itself has been pretty good.

Bluetooth assassins could be the way of the future, at least if they are as strong as this one. Gems like Kaji will still be what dominates however, the guy represents the common man! He’s braver than me though, I would have left after butchering the line. We better get more of him.

Shin’s desperate need for growth has been great to watch and there has been improvement without a doubt. If he can use his abilities for longer than he will become a next level threat, though I believe there is a physical aspect he must conquer to reach the level of someone near Sakamoto.

8.5/10, It’s still scary to see Sakamoto fight, the guy must have been unreal at his peak

8. The Rising of the Shield Hero. Ep. 10

isn’t Raphtelia really young? Even if she wasn’t, this is a lot of pressure to put on her. Yet, she is facing the responsibility without hesitating.

It seems this is a case of the emperor being manipulated y those in charge of aiding him. There are many examples of this in old history like in the three kingdoms era. The emperor is so young that I can’t be mad at him, but this means Shildina is left with a difficult task which is unforgivable in my opinion.

I believe Shildina hopes that her death will lead to the rest of the emperor’s army giving up or something similar to prevent any more loss of life. I like her, even with what little we have seen of her so I hope we get a resolution where she lives.

8/10, we’re in the endgame now

9. My Dress-Up Darling. Ep. 22

Was the director of of Akebi behind this episode? If you know you know.

I’ not sure whether Marin is excited or not, poor thing was going to have a heart attack but I like how she misinterpreted all of his actions. Although it’s common, I find it endearing how the nervousness around such relationships is depicted in anime. Especially for your first it is nerve wrecking, but hand holding comes first! Does it still?

Marin’s overthinking is common as well, extremely so even. Ruining a friendship as nice as they have is a sweet concern. The rejection scene and events afterwards hurt my heart even, but I hope Marin regains some hope after seeing how Gojo cares for her.

That’s some crazy lore behind the game by the way, would make for a good story.

With the rate we are going at, I believe this will be a three season series. I always felt that this arc dragged, then we steamrolled into the ending. I hope they can expand it just a bit, though I do have issues with the later bits as well though not enough to make me dislike this series.

8.5/10, good guy Gojo, 10/10 sweater

B: Good/Solid

10. The Water Magician. Ep. 10

I want Abel and Rihya to marry and live happily ever after. Give us some of that, or of the boy Ryo with his elf girlfriend to be.

The boat race was the best part of the episode, we need that in real life like pirates going at it. I also respect the never out options mentality, that’s real man.

We’re getting Ryo vs Oscar right? That’s wishful thinking. I think we need more of Ryo fighting before the season ends, and also of him improving even beyond his level to gain the edge on more formidable opponents. We won’t see that in this season, but I’ve enjoyed this enough to consider the manga.

7/10, more boat fighting please

C: It’s ok/Fine

These are shows I happen to pick up but struggle to finish. Still watchable, but not without a good break in between episodes.

11. A Couple of Cuckoos. Ep. 11

Wait, how does he know? Seriously, someone explain how he knows.

Hiro’s art style seemed different at times here, I want them to dray her as just a black and white stick figure from now on, that’s how much she irks me. Although, she doesn’t irk me as much as Chizuru.

A problem with this anime, of the many, is that we have too much teasing without actual progression into a relationship By now, we should have Nagi with one of the girls even if he ends up breaking up with them at one point. Furthermore, we need more clarity on who has the advantage because I don’t care what anyone says, it will not be Hiro!

Nagi/Erika’s mother may be my type, or may not, I can’t really tell.

7.3/10 Erika rapping has my vote.

12. Watari-Kun’s ****** Is about to Collapse. Ep. 9

Satsuki is the real danger, I get why Ishihara is worried about her.

Naoto is a different kind of clueless it seems, but he’s a nice guy at heart. Still, it can’t be more obvious that someone likes you.

I’m starting to dislike this anime, but for the reason you think. This is supposed to be messy, incoherent, draining even, yet, Naoto and Ishihara are a good couple. Yes, there are issues like Naoto’s repressed feelings for Satsuki and Ishihara’s low self esteem, but they two are good for each other. As of now, I say they are even better than Naoto with Satsuki. So how in the world are we going to separate them? That’s what I am afraid of, because the only way I see it is through character assassination and nothing is more heartbreaking than that.

7/10, flat is just fine

D: Do Not Recommend

Shows I do not recommend you watch for various issues.

F: Bad

Anime with glaring issues that make them not only difficult to watch, but the watcher angry at times.

Last. Rent a Girlfriend. Ep. 47

Mami remains my favorite character in this anime, she’s like an inevitability with unstoppable power. In reality, she’s just the only one with some sense here, even if she is deranged. Still, Chizuru needs to be called out more, why is she going so far when she doesn’t really like Kazuya. Why drag it out? she keeps saying they are customer and provider, yet is afraid to reveal this lie. Why? It will not harm you, these people mean nothing to you.

bunch of nothing again this episode, just show us that scene already so I can laugh at Kazuya some more.

1/10, save us mami.
